Bamsoet Urges Synergy Between Government and Business to Navigate Economic Dynamics
Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet), has asserted that the engagement between the leadership of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) and President Prabowo Subianto is a strategic step towards strengthening synergy between the government and the business world. This synergy is essential for navigating increasingly complex global economic dynamics.
Amidst the global economic slowdown, geopolitical tensions, shifts in global supply chains, and intensifying international investment competition, intensive communication between the government and business actors serves as a critical foundation. Such cooperation is necessary for Indonesia to maintain stability while accelerating economic growth.
A three-hour meeting, attended by KADIN officials from 3ability 38 provinces and various association representatives, demonstrated the government’s efforts to position the business sector as a strategic partner in driving investment, expanding employment, enhancing industrial competitiveness, and strengthening regional economies.
“President Prabowo has sent a very clear message that national progress can only be achieved if the government, the business community, academics, workers, and all national elements move in a spirit of collaboration. KADIN has the responsibility to translate these directives into concrete steps that can drive investment, strengthen national industry, increase exports, and create more job opportunities for the public,” Bamsoet stated in a release on Friday.
The Vice Chairperson of KADIN Indonesia for Politics, Law, and Security, noted that President Prabowo’s policy direction is highly relevant to current economic challenges. While the International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicts little change in global economic growth, various nations are competing to attract investment through regulatory reforms, fiscal incentives, and the strengthening of strategic industries.
Indonesia possesses significant opportunities due to its maintained political stability, demographic bonus, abundant natural resources, and a large domestic market. These opportunities can only be realised if the government and the business sector move in unison, ensuring that policies effectively address the practical needs of business actors on the ground.
“KADIN must serve as an effective bridge between the aspirations of business actors and the government. The business world requires certainty, while the government needs objective feedback from the field. Meetings such as this are strategic platforms for building trust and producing policies that are increasingly pro-investment, pro-industry, and pro-job creation,” Bamsoet explained.
The Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party further explained that current business challenges are far more complex than in previous years. In addition to global uncertainty, businesses must adapt to digitalisation, the energy transition, the development of artificial intelligence, and changing international trade patterns.
In this landscape, legal certainty, regulatory simplification, accelerated licensing, infrastructure strengthening, and access to financing are decisive factors for Indonesia’s competitiveness. Therefore, direct communication forums between the President and KADIN should be held regularly so that various issues can be addressed through targeted policies.
The 15th Speaker of the MPR RI added that optimism regarding the Indonesian economy remains high, with various international institutions recognising Indonesia as one of the most attractive investment destinations in Southeast Asia. Downstream processing of natural resources, the development of industrial estates, the strengthening of the food sector, the digitalisation of MSMEs, electric vehicle development, and infrastructure construction are sectors with high growth prospects.
Furthermore, strengthening regional economies must remain a priority, as much of the national economic activity relies on regional productivity. KADIN branches across the 38 provinces hold a strategic position in connecting regional potential with both national and global investment needs.
“The spirit established by President Prabowo is to build Indonesia from all regions. Therefore, KADIN in all 38 provinces must be able to act as engines of investment, assist MSMEs in their continued growth, strengthen local industries, expand export markets, and create a healthy and competitive business ecosystem,” Bamsoet concluded.
