PERIKHSA DKI Jakarta successfully won the overall title at the 5th PERIKHSA Skills Competition 2026 held at the Adisutjipto Shooting Range, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The DKI Jakarta team excelled by securing three first-place titles and one third-place title from the four categories contested. PERIKHSA Chairman Bambang Soesatyo appreciated the event’s organisation. He stated that the competition is not only a platform for honing technical skills but also for building discipline and responsibility among holders of special self-defence firearm licences. “Victory is certainly a source of pride. However, what is far more important is the spirit of learning, discipline, and responsibility shown by all participants. The PERIKHSA Skills Competition is a means of building a culture of safe, professional, and measured firearm use, always prioritising safety,” said Bamsoet in a statement on Sunday (19/7/2026). He said that skills in using self-defence firearms must always go hand in hand with increased legal awareness, ethics, and safety. According to him, continuous training is crucial to ensure technical abilities are maintained while minimising risks due to negligence. “Good shooting skills must be accompanied by the ability to make the right decisions, control emotions, understand the rule of law, and prioritise safety. The professionalism of a self-defence firearm licence holder is reflected in their discipline and maturity in every action,” he said. He explained that the ownership of self-defence firearms in Indonesia is subject to strict regulations and cannot be done carelessly. The use of firearms is only permitted for self-defence purposes in accordance with applicable regulations. “Ownership of a self-defence firearm is not for showing off or displaying power. Rather, it is limited solely to self-defence interests to protect oneself from threats that endanger life,” he clarified. Furthermore, he assessed that the development of PERIKHSA members is also in line with the values of defending the nation. According to him, defending the nation can be realised through discipline, compliance with the law, and the responsibility of maintaining environmental security. “Defending the nation starts with a disciplined character, obeying rules, having concern for the safety of others, and being ready to safeguard national unity. PERIKHSA members must be an example that the ability to use firearms is always accompanied by integrity, maturity, and love for Indonesia,” he concluded.
