Bamsoet Supports MSME Development Through Golf Tournament & UMKM Exhibition

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Padjadjaran University Alumni Association (UNPAD), Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet), has expressed support for the Golf Tournament & UMKM Exhibition 2026 and a mass wedding organised by the UNPAD Alumni Association. Both activities are held to welcome Youth Pledge Day. Carrying the theme “Swing to Grow 2026”, the event will take place on 3 October 2026 at Imperial Klub Golf, Lippo Village, Tangerang, Banten. It is designed to combine sport, networking, business expansion, and the promotion and development of MSMEs in one integrated activity. “This activity has strategic value because sport can serve as a means of building communication, expanding networks, and opening opportunities for economic collaboration. Its spirit is in line with the values of Youth Pledge Day, namely unity, togetherness, and mutual cooperation, which we must continue to keep alive in productive activities for society and the nation,” said Bamsoet on Saturday (15/8/2026). He made the remarks when receiving the Chairman of the Bumi Alumni Association, Ary Zulfikar, in Jakarta on Wednesday (12/8). The member of the Indonesian House of Representatives explained that, based on data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the Indonesian economy grew by 5.11 percent in 2025, up from 5.03 percent in 2024. Meanwhile, gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices reached Rp 23,821.1 trillion, with GDP per capita of Rp 83.7 million. Entering 2026, economic growth in the first quarter was recorded at 5.61 percent year-on-year, with household consumption remaining one of the key pillars. “The economic growth of 5.61 percent in the first quarter of 2026 should serve as motivation to strengthen the real sector. Economic growth must not be visible only in macro figures while business actors on the ground still face problems of market access, capital, technology, and distribution. Therefore, activities such as the Golf Tournament & UMKM Exhibition must be directed to become an important means of bringing together business potential and economic opportunities,” said Bamsoet. He added that strengthening MSMEs is important because Indonesia’s economic structure still relies heavily on micro, small, and medium enterprises. According to records from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, the number of MSMEs exceeds 65 million business units, contributing more than 60 percent to national GDP and absorbing nearly 97 percent of the workforce. However, the contribution of MSMEs to exports remains around 15.7 percent. Therefore, there is still significant room to improve export capacity, product standardisation, digitalisation, financing, and the integration of MSMEs into global supply chains. “These figures show how significant the position of MSMEs is in the national economy. When more than 65 million business units absorb nearly 97 percent of the workforce, MSME development policies must be placed as part of the national economic strategy. We need to encourage MSMEs to move from merely surviving to becoming productive, digitalised businesses with quality standards and the ability to penetrate wider markets,” Bamsoet concluded.
