Bamsoet: FKPPI Must Become a National Leadership Laboratory

Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet), a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Golkar Party faction, stated that the Forum Komunikasi Putra Putri Purnawirawan dan Putra Putri TNI-Polri (FKPPI) must take on an increasingly strategic role as a civil society force capable of safeguarding national unity while acting as a driver of national development. Amidst rising geopolitical competition, the acceleration of digital transformation, the threat of ideological infiltration, and global economic dynamics, FKPPI needs to present itself as a modern organisation deeply rooted in Pancasila values, possessing a clear direction of struggle, and capable of bridging the state and society.

Bamsoet, who also serves as the 15th Speaker of the MPR and Deputy Chairman of FKPPI, explained that FKPPI possesses very strong social capital because it is supported by an organisational structure that reaches down to the village level, close historical relations with the TNI and Polri, and the presence of cadres spread across various sectors of government, politics, business, academia, and society. This capital needs to be directed into a real force for building national character, strengthening regional resilience, developing local economies, supporting food security, improving digital literacy, assisting with disaster mitigation, and fighting the spread of hoaxes and ideologies that threaten national unity.

‘FKPPI must become a national leadership laboratory that produces cadres with integrity, character, technological mastery, and the ability to build the people’s economy, while simultaneously acting as a unifying force for the nation. This organisation must always be present to provide real solutions for the community,’ said Bamsoet during an online preparatory meeting for the FKPPI National Leadership Meeting in Jakarta, Monday (20/7/2026).

The Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) emphasised that organisational transformation is also an urgent necessity. Organisational digitalisation, a technology-based national member database, strengthened public communication, utilisation of social media, modern cadre education, and professional organisational governance are important foundations for FKPPI to keep pace with the times. The younger generation currently lives in a highly dynamic digital space, so the national narrative must also be present through an adaptive, creative, and easily accepted approach.

‘The digital era demands that FKPPI be able to lead healthy public opinion, build digital literacy, fight hoaxes, strengthen the spirit of defending the nation, and optimise technology as an instrument to strengthen national unity. Mastery of the digital space is an important part of future national defence,’ Bamsoet elaborated.

Bamsoet added that strengthening the economic capacity of cadres is also an important part of maintaining organisational independence. Indonesia is currently pushing for industrial downstreaming, a transformation towards a knowledge-based economy, the development of new and renewable energy, and increased national innovation. Therefore, FKPPI cadres in all regions must be able to become development actors who drive local economic potential, strengthen MSMEs, support food security, utilise technology, and expand collaboration with the government, the business world, universities, and the community. These steps will increase the organisation’s contribution to national development while strengthening the welfare of its members.

‘FKPPI must be present as an organisation that produces national cadres, organisational cadres, as well as state defence cadres who possess integrity, professionalism, leadership, and the ability to adapt to changing times. Thus, FKPPI can become a moral force, an intellectual force, and a social force that continues to safeguard Indonesia’s unity,’ concluded Bamsoet.
