Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet), a member of the DPR RI from the Golkar Party and the 15th Speaker of the MPR RI, has expressed his appreciation for Universitas Borobudur following the handover of waste management Science and Technology (IPTEK) to partners of KISUCI in Bogor Regency. Bamsoet noted the importance of this initiative, as waste management at the village level requires technical knowledge to generate economic benefits.

The programme is part of a Community Service (PKM) initiative held on Wednesday (16/9/2026) in Cipambuan Village, Babakan Madang District, Bogor Regency. This activity is part of the implementation of a grant programme from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek).

“The issue of waste needs to be addressed at the level closest to the community. Villages hold a vital position because most of the community’s daily activities take place within the village environment. Therefore, the habit of sorting and managing waste must be built from the home, the residential environment, and up to village institutions,” Bamsoet stated in his remarks on Friday (18/9/2026).

The PKM activity involved the drafting of a Village Regulation Draft regarding Community-Based Waste Management in Cipambuan Village. It is hoped that this draft will serve as a reference for waste management groups in regulating the reduction, sorting, collection, transportation, processing, and utilisation of waste.

The Leader of the Universitas Borobudur PKM Team, KMS Herman, remarked that the waste problem cannot be solved through the provision of technology alone. Instead, it requires the strengthening of institutions and the adjustment of community behaviour.

The draft regulation pertains to the obligation to sort waste at the source, the processing of organic and inorganic waste, the strengthening of TPS 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle waste processing sites), as well as funding and community participation. Waste that still possesses economic value can be collected and managed.

“Through this PKM activity, Universitas Borobudur is not only handing over the results of science and technology application but also encouraging the formation of participatory waste management governance with legal certainty. The community is expected to be able to transform waste from being considered an environmental burden into a resource with social and economic value,” said Herman.

On the other hand, a representative of KISUCI, Hayu S. Prabowo, appreciated the handover of the science and technology results. He explained that collaboration with universities is essential for sustainable waste management.

“We appreciate the contribution of Universitas Borobudur through this PKM activity. The programme provides real benefits, in the form of knowledge, technology, institutional strengthening, and the drafting of regulations that can serve as a common guideline for managing waste in Cipambuan Village,” said Hayu.
