Jakarta — The Journalists’ Coordination Body of City Hall and DKI Jakarta Regional Assembly (Balkoters) provided assistance to dozens of orphaned children at As-Suhaimiah Mosque, Jalan Kebon Sirih Barat I, Menteng, Central Jakarta, in observance of Idul Fitri 1447 Hijri.

“This assistance activity is something we conduct routinely each year, particularly during Ramadhan, as a demonstration of Balkoters’ concern and solidarity with our surrounding community,” said Sammy Edward Wattimena, Head of the Journalists’ Coordination Body of City Hall and DKI Jakarta Regional Assembly, on Tuesday in Jakarta.

According to him, this occasion featured the “Ramadhan Balkoters” assistance initiative, which forms part of the annual routine programme conducted by journalists who work daily in the City Hall and DKI Jakarta Regional Assembly environment.

Sammy stated that the assistance activity represents the press community’s concern for the surrounding community. He emphasised that Ramadhan presents an appropriate opportunity to share happiness, particularly with orphaned children.

Sammy also extended appreciation and gratitude to various parties that supported the activity. Support came from PAM Jaya, Bank Jakarta, Pasar Jaya, PLN UID Jakarta, Sarana Jaya, Transjakarta, Dharma Jaya, Jakpro, MRT Jakarta, SPPSI Pertamina, KAI Daop I Jakarta, Paljaya, Food Station, JXB, DKI Regional Assembly, and LRT Jakarta.

“We hope this collaboration will continue for social activities in the future,” he said.

Meanwhile, M. Cholik, Vice Chairman of As-Suhaimiah Mosque’s Welfare Council (DKM), expressed appreciation for Balkoters’ concern for the orphaned children in Kebon Sirih.

“The basic food provisions and cash assistance provided are very beneficial in preparing for Eid celebrations,” he said.

The beneficiaries themselves felt similarly. One orphan, Pitra, expressed gratitude for the assistance and plans to give it to his mother for Eid necessities.
