Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport Welcomes Inaugural China Eastern Flight from Beijing

I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali has welcomed the inaugural direct flight from Beijing Daxing, operated by Chinese carrier China Eastern Airlines. The maiden flight commenced on Saturday evening, 11 July 2026, officially connecting Bali with the capital of the People’s Republic of China via a direct service. The inaugural Beijing Daxing route was served by an Airbus A330 aircraft, arriving at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) on Saturday at 22:55 WITA after departing from Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX) at 15:43 local time. Flight MU889 arrived in Bali carrying 287 passengers. For the return leg, 287 passengers departed for Beijing on flight MU890 in the early hours of Sunday, 12 July, at 00:48 WITA. The departure was attended by the Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, a representative of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Denpasar, management from PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney Airports, and other guests. General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali, Nugroho Jati, expressed appreciation and optimism regarding the new route. ‘We are very enthusiastic about welcoming this new route connecting the Chinese capital with Bali. We are optimistic that this new route will further strengthen air connectivity with China, as well as enhance and reinforce Bali’s competitiveness as a premier global tourism destination,’ he stated. Historically, China is one of the largest contributors of foreign tourists to Bali. In the first half of 2026, Chinese passport holders ranked second in tourist arrivals to Bali, totalling 297,000 visitors. The new route is expected to further ease accessibility and encourage growth in tourist visits from China to Bali. The Beijing Daxing-Bali return service is scheduled to operate three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. With this opening, Beijing Daxing officially becomes the 42nd international route served by I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport via direct flight. These 42 routes are operated by 43 airlines, both national and foreign carriers. Beijing also becomes the fifth city in mainland China to be connected by direct flight to Bali, following Guangzhou, Shanghai, Xiamen, and Chengdu. ‘We extend our gratitude and appreciation to all parties for the operation of this new route. Previously, China Eastern Airlines had operated a flight route connecting Bali with Shanghai. We also hope to establish a long, successful, and mutually beneficial partnership with China Eastern Airlines on this new route, as well as open opportunities for further collaboration on other potential routes,’ Nugroho Jati concluded.
