Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) - The locally generated revenue (PAD) of regional governments in Bali reached Rp7.59 trillion as of May 2026, growing 10.25 percent compared to the same period in 2025, which recorded Rp6.78 trillion.

“The PAD performance of regional governments in Bali is encouraging, showing positive growth,” said Supendi, Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Treasury (DJPb), in Denpasar, Bali, on Thursday.

The realisation of PAD for the nine regency and city governments and the Bali Provincial Government has reached 35 percent of the total 2026 target of Rp21.6 trillion.

The largest contributor to this PAD is local taxes, predominantly from taxes related to the tourism sector, such as accommodation, food and beverage, or the specific goods and services tax (PBJT).

He added that this achievement indicates that the revenue performance of the regional budget (APBD) in Bali remains resilient amid global economic dynamics marked by overseas geopolitical tensions and crises. This is because the economic pulse of the Island of the Gods is predominantly supported by the tourism sector, which is vulnerable to shocks, including those from external factors.

In addition to PAD, the regional income of the nine regencies and cities and the Bali Provincial Government also comes from central government transfer funds, which reached Rp4.7 trillion. This realisation has touched nearly 40 percent of the 2026 target plan of Rp11.9 trillion.

“Total regional income in Bali reached Rp12.3 trillion out of a target of Rp33.5 trillion,” he added.

Meanwhile, regional government expenditure on the Island of the Gods reached Rp9.7 trillion out of a target of Rp38.8 trillion. The largest portion of this regional spending was for operational costs, amounting to Rp7.5 trillion, which includes employee salary payments, followed by capital expenditure of Rp1 trillion and inter-regional transfer spending in Bali reaching Rp1.24 trillion.

With this revenue and expenditure realisation, the Bali DJPb recorded a budget surplus of Rp3.6 trillion, including net financing.

On a separate note, the Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative Office for Bali Province highlighted that there are still significant opportunities for expanding regional digital transactions, which could boost locally generated revenue, particularly from regional levies and local taxes.
