Bali's Grouper and Milkfish Seed Exports Reach Rp6.41 Billion as of August
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has recorded that the export value of grouper and milkfish seeds from Bali reached Rp6.41 billion up to August 2026, an increase compared to the export value of Rp4.43 billion recorded throughout 2025.
The Head of the Agency for Quality Control and Supervision of Marine and Fisheries Products (KKP Quality Agency), Ishartini, stated that the increase in sales of grouper and milkfish seeds from Bali has occurred over the last two years, in both domestic and international markets.
“The KKP Quality Agency has implemented upstream quality certification, one of which is the Good Fish Seed Production Practice (CPIB Benih) certification, specifically for milkfish and grouper produced by farms in Bali,” Ishartumn stated in an official statement in Jakarta on Monday.
In 2025, exports of grouper and milkfish seeds from Bali reached 3.52 million individuals with a value of Rp4.43 billion. Meanwhile, up to August 2026, the export volume was recorded at 3.29 million individuals with a value of Rp6.41 billion.
Consequently, the KKP noted that the export value up to August 2026 has already exceeded the total export value for the whole of 2025, even though the export volume remains lower than the total volume from the previous year.
These grouper and milkfish seeds are exported to several markets, including Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia.
Ishartini said that the CPIB Benih certification is one of the efforts to guarantee the quality of seeds produced by farmers while simultaneously increasing the competitiveness of Indonesian fishery products in the international market.
In this certification process, several parameters are inspected, including the management of environmental and water conditions, waste management, the use of antibiotics to prevent antimicrobial resistance (AMR), heavy metal content, chemicals, biological aspects, sanitation and hygiene, as well as fish health and diseases.
Meanwhile, the Head of the KKP Denpasar Quality Centre, Dedy Arief Hendriyanto, stated that milkfish and grouper seeds from Bali are increasingly in demand by both domestic and foreign farmers.
He mentioned that the KKP Quality Agency has overseen the export of more than 600,000 live grouper from Bali to Thailand in the last two months.
Dedy assessed that this increase in demand indicates opportunities for the development of fish seed businesses in Bali, particularly with support for meeting the quality standards required by export markets.
