The Nyepi celebration is expected to reduce Bali’s electricity consumption by approximately 30 per cent compared to regular days, leaving the state-owned PLN’s Unit Induk Distribusi (UID) Bali with substantial energy reserves during the religious observance.

“We have approximately 343 megawatts available as reserve capacity during Nyepi,” explained Eric Rossi Priyo Nugroho, head of PLN UID Bali, during a free exodus programme event in Denpasar on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.

PLN has deployed approximately 1,300 personnel during Nyepi to manage potential power disruptions. Eric confirmed that all power generation facilities have been thoroughly inspected to ensure safety and reliability.

“For this year’s Nyepi, we have deployed approximately 1,300 personnel, and all our generators were inspected last Saturday, 14 March 2026, to ensure adequate energy supply throughout the Nyepi period,” Eric stated.

In coordinating service delivery with the community, PLN Bali has arranged with the Majelis Desa Adat (Village Council) to provide emergency dispensations for PLN personnel to respond to critical situations or urgent disruptions.

“We have also coordinated with the Village Council so that emergency response personnel can be granted dispensation if needed,” Eric added.

Eric urged PLN customers to utilise the PLN Mobile application to address unforeseen circumstances or to process outstanding bill payments during the observance period.
