The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Bali Province recorded that Bali’s economy grew by 6.91 percent in the second quarter of 2026. On an annual basis, the Balinese economy grew by 5.78 percent.

Head of BPS Bali Agus Gede Hendrayana Hermawan said that Bali’s economic growth in the second quarter of 2026 was higher than in the first quarter of 2026.

“Yes, our economy in this second quarter grew quite well, faster or higher than the growth in the previous first quarter,” said Agus on Wednesday (5/8/2026).

According to Agus, Bali’s economic growth was supported by nearly all business fields. However, the transport and warehousing sector was the only business field to experience an annual contraction.

The accommodation and food and beverage services sector remained the largest contributor to Bali’s economic structure, with a contribution of 21.91 percent. Despite being the sector with the largest contribution, its growth was relatively low, at 3.68 percent year-on-year.

Meanwhile, the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector ranked second with a contribution of 12.85 percent and grew by 6.35 percent year-on-year.

On the other hand, the transport and warehousing sector, which contributed 10.21 percent, actually contracted by 0.64 percent year-on-year.

Agus explained that the contraction in the transport sector was mainly triggered by a decline in air transport. According to him, high airfares were suspected to be one of the causes.

“The dominant decline was in those using air and sea transport. Air transport fell sharply. Whether it is because plane tickets are expensive, I also do not know. But what is clear is that both passengers and goods transported by air declined. The largest transport mode is air transport,” he added.
