Bali's craftsmen take part in exhibition

DENPASAR: As many as 50 craftsmen from several villages in Bali are taking part in a special exhibition of export products in Jakarta, from Oct.13 through Oct.20.

Handicrafts have become the island's third largest foreign exchange earners, after tourism, garments and textiles. But, since the economic crisis, many craftsmen have stopped producing due to a lack of capital.

It is expected that the exhibition will provide an opportunity for craftsmen to meet with potential buyers, and to promote Bali handicrafts to local and overseas markets. -- JP
