Bali's Child Creators Resya and Mesya Gain 3.1 Million Subscribers and Millions in Revenue
What began as a pastime has transformed the YouTube channel Resya Mesya into one of Bali’s leading digital creator platforms with millions of followers. The siblings from Samsam Village, Kerambitan District, Tabanan Regency, not only provide entertainment but also promote Balinese culture, even propelling one of its main talents into the film world. Behind the scenes, their father, I Dewa Gede Maresta Putera, is the driving force and manager of the channel. The name Resya Mesya combines the names of his two children, I Dewa Gede Resya Putra Mahottama (15) and Desak Made Mesya Adelia Putri (12). The content creation journey began in 2019, initially focusing on sports and motocross with Resya as the sole talent, when he was just six years old and in kindergarten. The concept shifted with the arrival of Mesya, who was then in third grade. Her passion for dance and active training at the Gopal Dance Studio led the channel to feature more Balinese culture and traditional dance. During this transition, the family carefully built storylines to retain their audience. As cultural content grew, they innovated further by creating drama content addressing social issues and children’s social lives. This shift opened new doors for Mesya, who debuted in the film Bhineka Tunggal Ika in 2023, followed by Subak Spirit and Cening Nepukin Kawa in 2024. She is currently involved in the production of Meong, Bikul, dan Kisah Si Pemburu, scheduled for release in 2026. While Resya was initially the main face of the channel, he now focuses on behind-the-scenes roles such as story writing and production direction. Mesya has also excelled in provincial dance festivals, including the Governor’s Cup. The family’s commitment led Maresta to resign from his banking job in 2025 to fully support his children’s creative pursuits. Despite their success, challenges remain, particularly in refreshing story ideas as the children grow older. Their popularity has also impacted their social lives, with both siblings becoming more recognised at school and inspiring peers to create content. Education remains a priority, with schedules carefully balanced. Financially, the channel’s first earnings were just Rp 1.9 million, but monthly income now reaches tens of millions of rupiah, reinvested into equipment, education, savings, and operations. The channel currently boasts 3.1 million YouTube subscribers, over 50,000 Instagram followers, and around 30,000 on TikTok. The siblings have collaborated with creators like Echa Laksmi and Sibliwira and participated in various ministry-held festivals. Commemorating National Children’s Day, they hope their work inspires other children to create while staying true to their identity, aiming to spread positive values and promote Balinese culture through entertaining and educational content.
