Balinese dancers claim sexual harassment

DENPASAR, Bali (JP): The Balinese provincial government set up
a small team on Thursday tasked with investigating thoroughly a
claim made by two female Balinese dancers that they had been
deceived by a local company that sent them to Japan.

Instead of performing Balinese traditional dances, the two
dancers were employed as waitress in nightspots in that country.

I Gde Nurjaya, spokesman for the Bali provincial
administration, said here recently that the investigation was
launched after the two dancers, Rika and Ayu, reported PT Nalam
Dewi Shinta Konsorsium's alleged deceit to Governor Dewa Made
Beratha.

One of the dancers said she had experienced sexual harassment
several times from the nightspot's customers.--JP
