DENPASAR: Four Balinese actors and eight musicians will display
their stage prowess in Time is A Hunter, which will be premiered
on Aug. 24 and run through Aug. 28 in Ruins town hall, Darwin,
Australia.
Time is A Hunter is an offspring of a collaborative creative
process between Australian woman dramatist Sandra Thibideaux and
her Balinese counterpart Anak Agung Sagung Mas Ruscitadewi.
The bilingual play explores the intertwined fates of four,
richly portrayed characters against the backdrop of the tragic
period that immediately followed the Bali Bombing.
Among the protagonists are Made, a simple Balinese housewife
widowed by the bombing, who must deal with the challenges of
raising her children all by herself, and David and Ayu, a couple
in despair over the future of their marriage and their tourism
business.
"The tragedy had, and still has, altered the life of many
people. The play is a small puzzle made of fragmented, but
interlaced, personal pains and victories experienced by the
protagonists during the course of that disturbing period," Mas
Ruscitadewi revealed.
The performance is part of the multicultural Darwin Festival,
Aug. 11 through Aug. 28. --JP
