Bali victim to go to Australia
DENPASAR, Bali: Ni Putu Swadesi, the only victim of the Oct. 1 Bali bombings still in intensive care at Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar, will soon be transferred to Australia for further treatment.
The transfer plan was announced by hospital officials in Bali.
They said the 25-year-old Balinese woman from Manggis in Karangasem had paralyzed legs. She has undergone three operations so far on her head, neck and back.
Putu, who is a domestic helper under the employment of Heru Jatmiko -- a general manager of Qantas airlines in Bali -- was one of more than 100 people wounded in the Oct. 1 blasts that killed 23 people including three suspected suicide bombers.
She was inside the Kafe Menega in Jimbaran, which was one of three places bombed. Heru's two children, who had been with Putu at the cafe, survived the incident as they were playing on the beach nearby.
Doctors operating on Putu removed ball bearings from her body.--Antara
