Bali Transportation Agency Reveals MRT Bali Progress, Still in Geotechnical Study Phase
The Bali Transportation Agency (Dishub Bali) has revealed that the physical construction of the MRT fast train project has not yet begun on Jalan Raya Kuta, Badung, Bali. Head of Dishub Bali I Kadek Mudarta stated that PT SBDJ, as the manager of the MRT Bali project, is still conducting geotechnical studies.
“So the information I have received is that there is currently a geotechnical study underway, drilling at several points to examine the rock structures,” Mudarta said on Saturday (18/7/2026).
Mudarta admitted he only had that information and requested that further developments regarding the MRT Bali be directed to PT SBDJ. “Currently, the concept is still with PT SBDJ, and they are still conducting studies,” he stressed.
For context, PT Sarana Bali Dwipa Jaya (SBDJ) has affirmed that the Bali MRT fast train project is proceeding according to plan. The company is currently refining and evaluating the cooperation scheme as well as the technical aspects of the project to ensure greater maturity.
PT SBDJ President Director Ervan Maksum stated that many aspects need to be reviewed so the project is not merely ceremonial. “There are many gaps; we also do not want it to be just ceremonial. It must comply with technographic requirements and applicable regulations. There were many misses previously, and we have tidied them up,” Ervan said on Thursday (12/2/2026).
