Bali to Become Pilot for National Social Assistance Digitalisation Programme

Bali will become the pilot for the central government’s social assistance (bansos) digitalisation programme. This follows a coordination meeting of all regional heads with the National Economic Council (DEN) and the Minister of Home Affairs in Jakarta on Tuesday (30/6/2026).

“We view this programme as very important and it must be implemented immediately for a more targeted and accountable distribution of social assistance. So we strongly support this programme,” said Bali Governor Wayan Koster in a written statement received by detikBali on Wednesday (1/7/2026).

During the meeting, Koster also conveyed that Bali had prepared several stages for the programme’s implementation. However, based on the achievement indicators, Bali’s progress was still unsatisfactory.

“This is because in the last two weeks, Bali has had many religious holidays. After returning from this coordination meeting, we will accelerate. Systematically, we have prepared concrete stages for implementation,” Koster explained.

Koster is targeting the registration process to be completed by the end of July at the latest. To speed this up, Koster requested support from facilitators to reach down to the banjar level more quickly.

DEN Chairman Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan asked the regional heads serving as pilots to maintain cohesion so that the registration target can be achieved. He also appreciated the Bali Provincial Government for seriously overseeing this programme.

“I hope the registration is completed by the end of August at the latest so that the launch can be accelerated,” Luhut hoped.
