Bali team beats Spugg

JAKARTA (JP): Bali's soccer team Gelora Dewata beat the
champion of Germany's third division, Spugg SPVGG Eltville from
Frankfurt, 1-0 in a friendly at the Ngurah Rai stadium, Denpasar,
Bali, on Sunday.

Dewata's only goal was scored at the 36th minute by striker
Ida Bagus Mahayasa, who received the ball from teammate Nus
Yadera. The goal was so sudden that the German goalkeeper Peter
Brasser failed to anticipate the attack and remained in the
watching position, Antara reported yesterday.

During the friendly, Dewata, which was strengthened by three
African booters, controlled the ball throughout the match. Yet,
the Bali team often carelessly finished the attacks it built up,
thus failing to score additional goals. (arf)
