Serang, Kompas.com - A Bali-like experience awaits at a new hotel in Serang Regency, Banten, offering sea views and direct access to a white-sand beach. Movenpick Resort Carita was officially opened on Sunday, 17 May 2026. The hotel is Movenpick’s fifth property in Indonesia, following properties in Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya, and Bintan. It offers travellers a Bali-inspired stay without having to travel far from Jakarta.

‘For our members based in Jakarta, this is one option for them to enjoy a staycation at our hotel located in Anyer-Carita,’ added Adi.

The Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration (Mendes PDT), Yandri Susanto, who attended the inauguration, also highlighted the significant tourism potential of the Carita area in Serang Regency, Banten. This potential is reflected in the many natural, cultural and culinary attractions that could become a selling point for tourism in the area through collaboration with tourism operators and hoteliers, including Movenpick Resort Carita.

‘If that is done, people will not only view Bali as the main tourist destination, but Banten, represented by Anyer-Carita Beach, could become the main choice, particularly perhaps for residents of Jakarta and its surroundings,’ Yandri said.

Meanwhile, Governor of Banten, Andra Soni, said that around Jakarta there is no region with such potential as Banten. ‘Because around Jakarta there is no region with the potential like Banten, which has beaches, mountains, waterfalls, seas, islands, religious sites, cuisine, and many tourist attractions; it just needs to be able to collaborate. Slowly, but we will work on it,’ Andra said.
