Bali stages touch rugby tournament
The Jakarta Touch Rugby Club will hold its second Bali International Touch Rugby Tournament at Lapangan Banteng, Seminyak, as part of this year's Kuta Karnival.
The one-day tournament, held on Oct.2 at 10 a.m, is expected to bring together teams from Jakarta, Singapore and Malaysia as well as family members and supporters.
Jointly organized by The Works, ProMotion Events and Jakarta Touch Rugby Club, The tournament will attract hundreds of spectators. In addition, food and drink will be available. Post- tournament celebrations will be held at Fabio's Ristorante- Encoteca in Seminyak.
Touch rugby or touch appears similar to rugby, but is played without tackling, scrums and kicking. Touch rugby is a minimal- contact sport that is now played worldwide by men, women and children. The game emphasizes running, agility and ball-handling skills such as passing and catching. The aim of the game is to score tries.
Proceeds from the event will benefit facilities improvements at local schools located in Seminyak and the Harry Burton Memorial Scholarship Fund.
