Bali Provincial Government Strengthens Economic Diplomacy, Opens European Investment Opportunities in Health Sector

Denpasar – The Bali Provincial Government continues to strengthen its international cooperation network to open investment opportunities while accelerating the development of strategic regional sectors. One such effort involves enhancing synergy with Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, particularly in building connections with European partners. This emerged during a meeting between Bali Governor Wayan Koster and Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials at the Governor’s Office in Renon, Denpasar, on Friday (14/08). From the ministry, the meeting was attended by Director of Europe II Punjul S. Nugraha, Chair of the Health Diplomacy Coordination for the Americas and Europe Rossy Verona, Vice Chair of the Indonesia-Europe Business Forum (IEBF) F. Bernard Loesi, Vice Chair of IEBF Yudhono Irawan, and Cluster Function Coordinator for Russia, Belarus and Armenia at the Directorate of Europe II Dandy L. Soeparan. During the meeting, Director of Europe II Punjul S. Nugraha presented developments regarding the Indonesia-Europe Business Forum, a platform that brings together stakeholders, Indonesian companies, European companies and strategic partners from the European region. The forum is considered an important entry point for expanding business networks and opening more concrete cooperation opportunities between Indonesia, particularly Bali, and European partners. The discussion then developed into strengthening economic diplomacy combined with the health sector. Bali is considered to have significant potential to develop health services that not only meet the needs of the local community but also hold appeal for people from outside Bali and abroad. In this context, the Bali Provincial Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs discussed aligning the potential of Bali’s health sector, the needs of the regional government, and the support that can be facilitated through diplomatic channels and international networks. One area of focus is the plan to develop hospitals with thematic services. This development is expected to strengthen the quality and variety of health services in Bali while opening wider space for the involvement of foreign partners and investors. The presence of private and foreign investment is also considered important to support the construction of health facilities so that development does not depend entirely on the capacity of the regional budget. These opportunities have begun to receive a positive response from prospective European partners. Several prospective partners have expressed interest in contributing to the provision of medical equipment after conducting direct visits to a number of hospitals in Bali. These visits served as an initial step to observe first-hand the needs of health facilities while identifying forms of cooperation that can be developed in the future. On the occasion, Governor Wayan Koster also presented the economic development of Bali Province, including various investment potentials and cooperation opportunities that can be offered to international partners. According to him, Bali not only has strengths in the tourism sector but also has development opportunities in various fields that can provide added value for the regional economy. Therefore, international cooperation networks need to be continuously expanded and directed towards investments that provide tangible benefits for the people of Bali. The meeting agreed on the importance of strengthening synergy between the Bali Provincial Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in attracting foreign investment to Bali. Cooperation will be directed primarily at the health sector as well as the development of local creative industries. With the support of economic diplomacy and international partner networks, Bali is expected to be increasingly able to open access to investment, technology, markets and global collaboration, while strengthening independent and sustainable regional development that remains rooted in Bali’s local potential.
