Bali Provincial Government Denies DLH Trucks Dumping Waste at Suwung Landfill
A video circulating online shows several waste trucks belonging to the Environment and Forestry Service (DLHK) entering the Suwung Final Processing Site (TPA) at night. The video’s narration claims the trucks were entering to dump waste at a time when all waste transport trucks are prohibited from disposing of organic waste at the Suwung TPA starting April 2026.
Bali’s DLHK Head, I Made Dwi Arbani, provided clarification on the matter. He confirmed the activity of waste trucks entering the TPA, and that the trucks belong to the Denpasar Environment Service (DLH).
However, Arbani stated that the trucks were not heading to the main dumping zone at the Suwung TPA. Instead, they were going to the TPST Tahura, located next to the Suwung TPA.
“The trucks did not enter the waste piling zone at the regional Sarbagita Suwung TPA. The gate to the piling zone only opens at 06:00 WITA. The trucks were heading to the TPST Tahura, which is to the west of the Suwung TPA, for further processing there,” said Arbani in a written statement on Sunday (5/4/2026).
Arbani emphasised that the enforcement of waste management rules at the Suwung TPA continues to proceed according to procedure. Supervision is being carried out intensively to ensure there are no violations of the applicable policies,” explained Arbani.
He gave an example of a previous violation incident, such as a truck attempting to enter carrying mixed waste. As a result, officers immediately took action.
“That truck was immediately escorted to turn back, and the vehicle was asked to be parked for handover to the vehicle owner’s side as a form of accountability from the self-managed party,” revealed the former Head of the Public Welfare Bureau of the Bali Provincial Secretariat.
