Bali Provincial and Central Government Progress Development of Waste-to-Energy Facilities
Denpasar — The Bali Provincial Government (Pemprov) and central government are beginning to consolidate efforts to accelerate the development of Waste-to-Energy Facilities (PSEL) as a long-term solution for waste management.
“We in Bali are already united as one team — the governor, mayors, and regents — land has been prepared, road access is in place, and community engagement has already been conducted,” said Bali Governor Wayan Koster in Denpasar on Thursday.
Koster, together with Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa and Denpasar Mayor IGN Jaya Negara, stated that Bali is ready to become a priority region for PSEL technology development.
Communities at the project site have already agreed to the initiative, and the project is eagerly anticipated given the continuously rising waste volumes in Bali as a world tourism destination.
Addressing the central government, local authorities have requested clarity on the project timeline and development progress to ensure the process can run effectively.
“We are ready to support whatever is needed to ensure this project runs smoothly. The waste management issue is something the Bali community is eagerly awaiting, so we are pushing for acceleration,” said the Bali Governor.
The central government, represented by the Deputy for Affordability and Food Security of the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs Nani Hendiarti, expressed its commitment to overseeing the acceleration of PSEL development, including coordination with the Development and Management Business Entity (BUPP) Danantara.
