Bali Police Step In as Murder of Trader Man Colik Remains Unsolved After Two Weeks

The Bali Regional Police have stepped in to assist the Klungkung Police in the investigation of the murder of I Nyoman Cita, a 50-year-old lawar trader known as Man Colik, whose case remains unsolved two weeks after his death. Police are still hunting for the perpetrator. “Polda Bali is backing up the investigation,” said Head of Public Relations for the Bali Police, Commissioner Ariasandy, in Denpasar on Wednesday. The investigation is currently focused on examining evidence found at the scene. Officers recently discovered the victim’s underwear and right sandal in the Bubuh River, where his body was found. These items add to previously recovered evidence, including the victim’s mobile phone and left sandal. The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Klungkung Police has not yet been able to confirm whether the case involved violent theft, as a 70-gram gold necklace the victim was wearing at the time of the incident has not been found. Police have also received the autopsy results, which show Man Colik sustained four stab wounds: two on the left side of his back, one on the right side of his back, and one on his abdomen. The victim’s death was confirmed to have been caused by sharp object wounds. “From these results, we hope the investigation will narrow down towards identifying the perpetrator. However, we are not yet able to provide an initial assessment regarding the ongoing process,” said Klungkung Police Head of Public Relations, I Dewa Nyoman Alit Purnawibawa. To date, police have examined 13 witnesses in the case. With the support of the Bali Regional Police’s investigation, authorities hope to soon uncover the perpetrator of Man Colik’s murder.
