Denpasar — Bali’s Regional Police, together with Jembrana Police and relevant agencies, conducted traffic management and engineering operations to disperse vehicle congestion that created a 10-kilometre queue at Gilimanuk Port, Jembrana Regency, Bali, on Saturday.

Senior Operations Officer of Bali Regional Police, Police Commissioner Soelistijono, serving as Operational Commander of Operation Ketupat Besar 2026, stated that based on reports from personnel of the Traffic Safety and Order Task Force of Operation Ketupat Besar 2026, by 11:00 AM local time the vehicle queue heading to Gilimanuk Port had reached approximately 10 kilometres, specifically extending to the Sumber Sari Village area, Jembrana Regency.

“The traffic density was predominantly comprised of trucks and four-wheeled vehicles belonging to homecoming travellers intending to cross to Java Island,” Soelistijono said.

In response to this situation, personnel from Bali Regional Police and Jembrana Police collaborated with several relevant agencies to manage traffic flow and implement engineering solutions along the main routes to Gilimanuk Port. These efforts aimed to accelerate the dispersal of the lengthy vehicle queue.

Additionally, traffic engineering measures were applied at Gilimanuk Cargo Terminal, with police personnel providing special attention to disperse vehicle congestion heading towards the port area.

Soelistijono also directed all personnel deployed along the main Denpasar-Gilimanuk route to implement strategic measures in controlling vehicle flow.

“One of the steps taken was to temporarily halt the journey of large trucks, particularly three-axle trucks heading towards Gilimanuk Port,” he said.

To maximise these efforts, the Senior Operations Officer of Bali Regional Police also requested personnel from Denpasar Police Station, Badung Police, and Tabanan Police to implement similar measures in their respective areas to support efforts to disperse traffic density flowing into Jembrana Police jurisdiction.

According to Soelistijono, the regulation of large truck travel during this mudik period was implemented based on a Joint Decree regarding Traffic Management and Ferry Operations during the 2026 Lebaran transport period.

Separately, Jembrana Police coordinated with ferry operator ASDP to ensure that vessels operating the Gilimanuk-Ketapang route implemented the Arrival, Unloading, Departure (TBB) system. Under this system, vessels arriving at Ketapang Port immediately proceed with unloading and promptly return to Gilimanuk to expedite ferry services for homecoming travellers.

Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations of Bali Regional Police, Police Commissioner Ariasandy, serving as Head of Public Relations Task Force for Operation Ketupat Besar 2026, appealed to all homecoming travellers to comply with instructions from field officers for smooth travel.

“We urge all homecoming travellers to follow the guidance and arrangements provided by officers in the field. This traffic engineering effort is conducted to ensure safety, order, and smooth travel for the community celebrating Eid al-Fitr with family in their hometowns,” he said.

Ariasandy also reminded drivers to maintain their physical condition during travel, ensure their vehicles are roadworthy, and prioritise safety.

“Public patience and cooperation are essential to ensure the homecoming traffic flows safely, orderly, and smoothly,” he said.
