Bali Police Free Mudik Programme Departs 25 Buses in Stages
The free mudik programme organised by Polda Bali continues to run. On Wednesday (18/3/2026), five buses were dispatched from Ubung Terminal. Overall, the programme has been underway for the past few days and is carried out by police districts across Bali. In total, 25 buses have been prepared to carry around 900 mudik travellers to various areas on the island of Java, such as Banyuwangi, Surabaya, Semarang, Bandung, and Jakarta. “One of the objectives is to facilitate residents who may not have sufficient funds to undertake mudik this year,” said Bali Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya after releasing the five buses from Ubung Terminal on Wednesday (18/3/2026). Of the total, two buses are taking the longest journey to Jakarta. Meanwhile, the five buses dispatched from Ubung Terminal today received escort until Gilimanuk Port. Polda Bali Traffic Director Senior Commissioner Turmudi emphasised that upon arrival at the port, the group will still follow the queue like other vehicles. “Upon reaching Gilimanuk Port, they will queue like the others to avoid disrupting the existing queue,” he said. Regarding the mudik traffic conditions, Bali Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya stated that his side continues various efforts to ease queues at Gilimanuk Port. An evaluation will be conducted after the entire mudik flow is complete. “Yesterday, Saturday-Sunday, we conducted a direct inspection with the Deputy Minister of Transportation, and yesterday directly with the Minister of Transportation, of course with support from National Police Headquarters as well,” he added. Polda Bali Traffic Director Senior Commissioner Turmudi also revealed that one cause of the long queues at Gilimanuk is the ferry transport capacity that is not yet commensurate with the number of mudik travellers. As of now, the vehicle queue from the Denpasar direction to Gilimanuk Port reaches about 10 kilometres. Meanwhile, from the Singaraja direction, it is recorded at around 1.5 kilometres. For the route to Padang Bai Port, conditions are monitored as smooth without queues. In the end, Polda Bali hopes that all community activities in the Eid al-Fitr celebration, especially the mudik flow, up to the implementation of Nyepi Day, can run smoothly, safely, and conducive. Synergy between police apparatus, related agencies, and the community is expected to maintain public order and security during that period.
