Bali Police Forensic Lab Joins Investigation into Sade Traditional Village Fire

A joint team from the Bali Police Forensic Laboratory (Labfor), NTB Police Inafis, and the Central Lombok Police Criminal Investigation Unit has been deployed to investigate the cause of the fire that struck the Sade Traditional Village in Rembitan, Pujut District, on Saturday night (22/6/2026).

According to detikBali’s observations, the joint team conducted a crime scene investigation at the point where the fire first appeared that night. Identification was carried out from 09.00 WITA until 12.00 WITA. Meanwhile, dozens of police officers on guard were seen monitoring the area, securing the corners where police lines had been installed.

Central Lombok Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, AKP Punguan Hutahaean, said the focus of the crime scene investigation on the second day was to determine the cause of the fire using scientific methods. The team involved the Bali Forensic Laboratory and a team from the NTB Police.

“Today we are conducting a crime scene investigation directly with the Forensic Laboratory, which will later explain more specifically and scientifically what the cause of the fire was,” he told detikBali on Monday (24/6/2026).

He explained that the reference for today’s crime scene investigation is the condition of the site. The team will also combine this with the results of interviews with witnesses who first saw the fire.

“But the reference is the condition of the crime scene. So the condition of the crime scene that we find later will be the reference. Combined with the statements of witnesses who first saw the fire,” he stressed.

Based on preliminary data, at least 75 residential units were burned. In addition to residential homes, a number of traditional and public facilities were also affected. These include one mosque, four berugak sekenam (six-pillared gazebos), six berugak sekepat, one alang-alang granary, and 69 art shops located in each of the residents’ homes.

The fire also affected one village hall, one toilet, one traditional gate, and one granary. Outside the main area of the fire, around 20 residential units outside the Sade Traditional Village were also affected.

“Since yesterday we have been calculating the condition and state of the affected area. First, we need to convey that there are 75 residential units. Then one mosque, followed by four berugak with six legs, or what people here call sekenam,” said Central Lombok Regent Lalu Pathul Bahri to the media on Monday.
