Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded that the Indonesian economy grew by 5.29% in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the second quarter of 2025 (year-on-year). Based on BPS data, the group of provinces on Java Island dominated the structure and performance of the Indonesian economy in the second quarter of 2026, contributing 56.47% and recording growth of 5.65% (yoy).

‘The growth in Bali and Nusa Tenggara and Sulawesi is above the national growth,’ said M. Edy Mahmud, Deputy for Balance Sheet and Statistical Analysis at BPS, on Wednesday (5/8/2026). The economic growth of Bali and Nusa Tenggara reached 6.10%, the highest among all islands in Indonesia. Meanwhile, Java’s economy grew by 5.65% and Sulawesi’s by 5.53% in the second quarter of 2026.

Furthermore, the 6.10% year-on-year growth achievement in Bali-Nusra represents a significant leap compared to the same period last year, when growth in the second quarter of 2025 stood at just 3.72% year-on-year. A breakdown shows that the 6.10% economic growth in the Bali-Nusra region was primarily contributed by Bali Province, which accounted for 2.77%, followed by West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province with a share of 2.21%, and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province with a share of 1.12%. According to BPS, three sectors were the main sources of growth for the economy in the Bali and Nusa Tenggara region: the Mining sector, the Trade sector, and the Government Administration sector.
