Bali needs grade school teachers

DENPASAR, Bali: The regencies of Karangasem, Bangli and
Buleleng are running short of elementary school teachers because
few educators are interested in working in remote areas.

Head of the provincial education and culture office, Brata
Subawa, said many of the available teachers in the remote
villages of those regencies face major constraints in continuing
the teaching-learning process.

Subawa, who was with Governor Ida Bagus Oka on a field trip to
Karangasem last week, said the lack of teachers has forced
headmasters to teach as well as take care of their administrative
duties.

He said his office would propose recruitment of new teachers
for the schools to replace those who have reached retirement age,
