The management of the Bali Museum is employing a variety of strategies to captivate the younger generation. One such initiative is the ‘Museum Keliling’ (Travelling Museum) programme, designed to bring history closer to students. The programme targets junior high schools across the island, with plans to visit 15 schools this year, including a recent session at SMP Negeri 3 Tampaksiring in Gianyar.

Ida Ayu Made Sutariani, Head of the UPTD Bali Museum, noted that engaging young people requires adapting to their world. For primary school students, the museum has launched ‘Dongeng Museum’ (Museum Storytelling), partnering with storytelling communities to visit 17 schools in areas such as Badung, Bangli, and Klungkung. Sutariani observed that attracting youth is challenging because they are surrounded by Balinese culture daily and may not see the unique historical value of museum artefacts.

To modernise its appeal, the Bali Museum is also leveraging social media platforms, including Instagram, to share activities and information. This digital push comes as the museum recorded a drop in student visitors from Bali, falling from 14,774 in 2024 to 10,225 in 2025.

Similarly, the UPTD Monumen Perjuangan Rakyat Bali (Bajra Sandhi Monument) is intensifying its outreach. Head Gede Nova Widiarta stated that the monument is running its own Travelling Museum programme for high school students, targeting nine schools in Denpasar and Gianyar. They also invite students to visit the monument for history lessons. The monument experienced a steeper decline in local student visitors, from 57,828 in 2024 to just 8,692 in 2025, out of a total of 45,609 visitors.
