Bali Immigration Deports 342 Foreign Nationals for Rule Violations

The Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration has tightened its supervision of foreign nationals on the Island of the Gods. Throughout the period from January to June 2026, immigration authorities across Bali imposed administrative actions in the form of deportation against 342 foreign nationals who violated immigration laws. Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Felucia Sengky Ratna, affirmed that the office is open to every foreigner, whether tourists or investors, who come to Bali. Nevertheless, she stressed that compliance with the laws in force in Indonesia is absolute and must be obeyed by foreign nationals. “For those who do not respect the applicable laws and disrupt the social order, we ensure there is no safe space in Bali. We will take firm action against foreigners proven to have committed violations in the form of deportation and blacklisting sanctions,” Felucia said in an official statement on Saturday (4/7/2026). “This is not merely normative law enforcement, but a real commitment by Bali Immigration to uphold statutory provisions in order to provide a sense of security for the community and create a safe and conducive situation,” she added. This continuous law enforcement is carried out massively by all work units under the Bali Regional Office, consisting of the Class I Special Immigration Office Ngurah Rai, Class I Immigration Office Denpasar, Class II Immigration Office Singaraja, Class III Immigration Office Tabanan and Klungkung, and the Denpasar Immigration Detention House. Felucia stated that the focus of supervision of foreign nationals is not only aimed at security and order stability but also at activities that impact economic and social issues. Various violations committed by foreign nationals include overstaying, misuse of residence permits, working without official permits, involvement in fictitious investments, and activities that disturb public order or violate customary norms. According to Felucia, immigration data for the first semester of 2026 shows that the majority of violations by foreign nationals in Bali were dominated by cases of misuse of residence permits and overstaying. She confirmed that the massive crackdown on hundreds of rule-breaking foreign nationals is a tangible result of the optimisation of layered supervision orchestrated by each Immigration Office. “The Ngurah Rai, Denpasar, Singaraja, Tabanan, and Klungkung Immigration Offices continue to actively conduct sweeps, whether through independent operations, the Dharma Dewata Immigration Patrol, or strengthening cross-agency synergy within the Foreigner Surveillance Team (Timpora),” she added. Felucia said the Bali Immigration ranks were also involved in uncovering several major cases involving foreign nationals in Bali, such as the discovery of a clandestine laboratory manufacturing narcotics involving two Russian citizens in March 2026. In the same month, Bali Immigration also secured an Interpol fugitive from the United Kingdom at the Immigration Checkpoint of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. In June 2026, Bali Immigration also successfully prevented the departure of an Interpol fugitive from Australia involved in an outlaw motorcycle gang and an illegal drug smuggling case in Australia. This success was also due to synergy with the Directorate of Drug Crimes of the Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency and the Australian Federal Police. “This proves that Immigration cannot work alone to enforce the law; communication and coordination between agencies are strategic in realising state sovereignty,” Felucia added. Felucia invited all elements of Balinese society to participate in the supervision of foreign nationals in their respective areas. She encouraged residents to report if they find foreign nationals committing violations. “We urge residents to utilise the official complaint channels available at every nearest Immigration Office. Do not hesitate to report immediately if you find suspicious activities by foreign nationals that have the potential to violate the law or are indeed committing violations,” said Felucia. “Together, let us safeguard the dignity, security, and harmony of the Island of the Gods that we are so proud of,” she concluded.
