Officers at the Immigration Checkpoint at Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, arrested an Interpol fugitive with the initials SL (45), a British national. He was apprehended moments after landing in Bali.

“Bali will never be a hiding place for fugitives,” said the Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Bugie Kurniawan, as reported by Antara on Saturday (28/3/2026).

Immigration officers at the international arrivals terminal of Ngurah Rai Airport intercepted the fugitive with initials SL after he landed from Singapore. SL was apprehended by officers after the immigration system detected him as a subject of the Interpol Red Notice.

The term refers to Interpol requesting law enforcement worldwide to locate and arrest the target.

Based on data and intelligence coordination, SL is suspected of being the leader of an international criminal organisation. SL is alleged to control his network in operations managing fictitious companies and the criminal act of money laundering (TPPU).

“Our system is well integrated, and our officers are experienced in detecting and securing Interpol wanted persons (DPOs),” he added.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Felucia Sengky Ratna, appreciated her subordinates and emphasised that the integrity of surveillance at Bali’s entry points must continue to be enhanced.

“This success demonstrates that the immigration surveillance system in the Bali region is running effectively, integrated, and responsive to cross-border threats,” said Felucia.

She assured that fugitives in serious crime cases will not be able to freely enter Indonesian territory. After successfully being apprehended in the international arrivals area, Ngurah Rai Immigration then carried out the handover process of SL to the Ngurah Rai Airport Area Resort Police (Polres) for further legal handling in accordance with international fugitive handover procedures.

Ngurah Rai Immigration will continue to actively coordinate with Interpol and other related agencies to maintain national security and order from cross-border criminal threats.
