Escalating conflict in the Middle East has begun affecting international mobility at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali. The Bali Immigration Office (Class I Special TPI Ngurah Rai) is now tightening surveillance and preparing anticipatory measures against potential foreign nationals (WNA) exceeding their permitted stay or overstaying as a result of flight disruptions.

Head of the Bali Immigration Office, Bugie Kurniawan, stated that this global development is being monitored intensely as it is triggering cancellations of several international flight routes transiting Middle Eastern airspace.

Foreign nationals affected by flight cancellations and unable to leave Indonesia according to schedule face the risk of overstaying. In response to this situation, the Bali Immigration Office is adopting professional handling measures whilst considering force majeure circumstances.

For passengers whose residence permits are about to expire or have expired due to this emergency situation, the Immigration Office has provided clear instructions. The Immigration Office ensures that each case will be handled proportionally in accordance with applicable laws whilst upholding the principle of legal certainty.

To anticipate potential queues and passenger congestion at inspection areas, the Bali Immigration Office has increased personnel at each shift. The previous complement of 25 officers has been increased by five additional personnel both in international arrival and departure areas.

Furthermore, intensive coordination continues with airport authorities and airlines to monitor the activation of contingency plans for handling affected passengers.

Based on monitoring data as of 1 March 2026 at 01:00 WITA, airspace closures in countries such as Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, and Iran have directly impacted five major flight schedules from Bali.

Prospective passengers with routes transiting the Middle East are advised to regularly check flight status through official airline applications and coordinate before heading to the airport to avoid congestion at the terminal.
