South Tangerang — A Bali House restaurant building located on Jalan Raya Puspiptek, Buaran, Serpong District, South Tangerang City, caught fire on the evening of Tuesday, 17 March 2026.

The building, which was predominantly constructed of bamboo with a thatched roof, was almost completely consumed by the flames.

Omay Komarudin, Head of the Fire Suppression and Rescue Division of the South Tangerang Fire and Rescue Service, stated that the fire report was received at approximately 20:30 local time.

“The Bali House restaurant caught fire. Approximately 99 per cent,” Omay said when asked about the incident on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.

Omay noted that the fire spread rapidly due to the highly flammable building materials. Additionally, strong winds accelerated the spread of the fire, consuming the entire structure.

Nevertheless, the fire was extinguished at 22:40 local time, after eight fire trucks were dispatched, including two units providing assistance from Bogor Regency.

In addition, two firefighters collapsed, though their condition has since improved.

“Two firefighters suffered respiratory distress,” he added.

The preliminary theory regarding the fire’s cause is electrical short-circuiting. The incident resulted in losses estimated at approximately IDR 2 billion.
