Bali has new India cultural center

The Indian government, via its embassy in Jakarta, opened a cultural center on Jl. Raya Puputan 42 to 44 in Renon, Denpasar, on Thursday.

The venue to be known as the Indian Cultural Center, is the second of its kind and will function as a place for learning about Indian culture, as well as the ideal venue to view a variety of art and cultural activities.

According to Dr. Somvir, one of the center's executives, the cultural center will organize several activities including courses on Indian traditional music and dance, a yoga school and a library containing books on a range of India-related issues.

The opening of the center was marked by a signing ceremony attended by Indian Ambassador to Indonesia Hemant Krishnan Singh and Bali Governor Dewa Made Beratha on Tuesday. -- JP
