Denpasar (ANTARA) - Bali Governor Wayan Koster, upon receiving a visit from the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Denpasar, discussed the development of waste-to-energy electricity processing technology (PSEL) that will be built in Bali.

Koster, in a statement from the Bali Provincial Government in Denpasar on Friday, discussed this because the PSEL to be built will be undertaken jointly with a partner from China’s Zhejiang Weiming, chosen by Danantara.

“I am directly leading the process together with the Regent of Badung and the Mayor of Denpasar to ensure everything runs smoothly until the groundbreaking in July,” he said.

Governor Koster conveyed that the finalisation of documents and administration is currently progressing without obstacles, land preparation is also underway and targeted for completion by the end of June 2026.

Koster hopes that the facility undertaken jointly with the Chinese company will be able to address waste problems in Denpasar and Badung while strengthening Bali’s image as a clean and modern world tourist destination.

He himself has learned much from China’s developments, which have now become one of the most influential countries in the world, especially in technological and industrial development.

Beyond the PSEL project, he said that Bali and China have had close relations for a long time, both historically and culturally.

“In several sacred places in Bali, there is worship of Chinese deities; culturally, Balinese Hindus have values that are quite similar to Chinese culture,” said the number one person in the Bali Provincial Government.
