Bali Government to Close Suwung Landfill

Bali is gradually beginning to close rubbish disposal at the Suwung Landfill. However, this policy has caused rubbish pile-ups on several roads. This situation is exacerbated by residents burning rubbish, thereby spreading toxic smoke to the Island of the Gods. The government is promptly taking action by enforcing a zero-tolerance ban on open dumping. Operating since 1984, the Suwung Landfill officially stopped accepting organic waste on 1 April as part of the national mandate and will be fully closed on 1 August.
