Bali fund raising held in S'pore
SINGAPORE: Ambassadors from nine countries and celebrities will
man the bar and mix cocktails at a Singapore fund-raiser for
Bali.
Thursday's event at Zouk, a popular pub, is aimed at
attracting 2,000 people and raising S$ 50,000 forthe island,
racked by a terrorist attack in October.
It is the second in a set of four fund raisers being held
around Southeast Asia to raise money for the Balinese, whose
tourism- reliant economy is suffering from the October 12 bomb
blasts, whichleft at least 190 people dead, most of them foreign
tourists.
The fund raisers started in Kuala Lumpur, where $ 50,000 was
collected.
One will be held in Jakarta Feb. 8 and another on Bali Feb.

The series was organized by Singapore-born fashion
entrepreneur Farah Khan, who plans to turn the money over to the
UN Development Fund for Women for distribution. --DPA
