Bali Expects 4% Surge in Passenger Traffic During Eid Holiday Period 2026
Bali’s Transportation Agency (Dishub) has predicted that the number of passengers entering and leaving Bali will increase by approximately 4% during the Eid holiday exodus in 2026.
Bali’s Transportation Agency head I Kadek Mudarta stated that during the 2025 Eid holiday period, the number of passengers entering and leaving Bali reached approximately 2.36 million people with 349,000 vehicles.
“Our prediction for 2026 is around 2.46 million passengers with vehicles estimated at approximately 365,000 vehicles,” said Mudarta in Denpasar on Tuesday (10 March 2026). “That’s a roughly 4% increase in our prediction.”
Mudarta noted that this year’s Eid holiday exodus will not experience significant changes compared to the previous year. This is because the Nyepi celebration coinciding with Eid also occurred last year.
According to him, residents have begun adjusting their travel schedules to align with Nyepi celebrations. Travellers departing from Bali typically concentrate at exit points such as airports and ports two days before Nyepi.
“When the pengerupukan occurs, the volume of movement drops significantly, which means we can conclude that the public already understands this and can plan their travel accordingly,” Mudarta explained.
The Transportation Agency Prepares 26 Support Posts
The agency has coordinated with police to establish support posts at various major routes. A total of 26 posts have been prepared to serve holiday travellers.
“There are quite a number located in port areas, terminals, and along travel routes,” he added.
These posts will provide services for Eid holiday travellers as well as residents returning to their hometowns ahead of the Nyepi celebration.
“These support posts will provide various services including rest areas for passengers, health checks, and assistance for specific needs such as emergencies,” Mudarta explained.
