The Bali DPRD has warned civil servants (ASN) not to use the work-from-home (WFH) policy every Friday as an opportunity to go on holiday. “On Fridays, they must be on standby at home and not go anywhere; it’s not for holidaying but for completing work online. Do not turn it into a holiday,” said the Chairman of Commission I of the Bali DPRD, I Nyoman Budiutama, on Friday (3/4/2026). Budi emphasised that especially for employees with positions, they should not exploit the policy to travel with family. He also reminded them not to use official vehicles on WFH days. “Official vehicles should also remain on standby at the office; if there’s a policy to take them home, do not go anywhere. If taken anywhere, it’s not efficiency,” Budi explained. He stated that the policy from the central government must still be followed by local government. However, ASN working in basic services such as public services, health, and education must still report to work as usual. “For example, teachers, public services, health, they are as usual; in tourism, environmental agency, they still (report to work),” Budi elaborated. WFH Circular in Bali Still Being Processed Meanwhile, the Bali Provincial Government (Pemprov) has not yet issued a Circular Letter (SE) regarding the mechanism and implementation of the WFH policy every Friday. “The SE is still being processed, not yet issued,” said the Head of the Organisation Bureau of the Bali Regional Secretariat, Tjok Istri Srimas Pemayun. Previously, the central government has set a policy of working from home or WFH for one day a week, namely every Friday. “The implementation of work from home for ASN in central and regional agencies is carried out for one working day per week, namely every Friday,” said Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto in a virtual press conference on Tuesday (31/3/2026). Airlangga said the policy only applies to ASN and is aimed at encouraging digital-based service governance.
