Bali coastal areas face flood risk through June 5 due to full moon
“The cause is the Full Moon phenomenon on May 31,” said BBMKG Region III Head Cahyo Nugroho in Denpasar on Sunday.
He explained that the phenomenon has the potential to increase maximum sea levels.
Based on water level monitoring data and tidal forecasts, coastal flooding may occur along the southern coast of Jembrana and the southern coast of Tabanan.
It may also occur along the coasts of Badung Regency, Denpasar City, Gianyar Regency, and the southern coast of Klungkung Regency.
Cahyo noted that the timing of potential coastal flooding may vary by day and hour across different locations.
Activities that may be affected include loading and unloading operations at ports, activities in coastal settlements, as well as salt pond and inland fisheries activities.
The public can access updated maritime weather information through bbmkg3.bmkg.go.id and maritim.bmkg.go.id.
In addition, weather updates can also be monitored through social media platforms, including Instagram @bmkgbali, or through the BMKG Info mobile application.
“The public is advised to remain vigilant and prepared to anticipate the impacts of maximum high tides,” Cahyo added.
