Bali Club, a disappointment

Bali Club, a disappointment

From Tempo

I have been very disappointed with the attitude and services of the Bali Club (PT Puri Loka Asri), of which I am a member.

As Bali Club claims to have facilities at star-rated hotels such as the Sol Elite Marbella, the Mambruk Hotel, and the Lippo Carita Hotel in Anyer, and guarantees a hassle-free holiday for its members, my family and I had planned to enjoy the Bali Club membership facilities during the June-July school holiday.

We first tried to reserve a room at the Sol Elite Marbella through the Bali Club in early June, but the Club said the hotel was fully booked. So I told the Club that I could take my holiday in early July instead, but even after a long wait, the Club failed to service our request.

Extremely disappointed, I decided to resign from the Club. However, the Club decided to compensate our disappointment and ironically, offered us a room at the Sol Elite Marbella for free from July 12-14, which we decided to take.

During the last day of our stay, I went out to start the engine of my Kijang parked just in front of our room and was shocked to find that my tape recorder, the CD player, and my wife's sunglasses were missing from the car. I immediately reported the incident to the hotel management and found out that five other guests had reported similar thefts. After a long and fierce argument, the hotel management finally agreed to talk about the incident in Jakarta the next day.

We all went to the hotel's office in Jakarta as arranged, but to our great dismay, the hotel management said that they were only responsible for items belonging to the hotel's direct guests, and that they were not responsible for our belongings because we were guests of the Bali Club. After this explanation, the hotel management advised us to contact the Bali Club.

We hope that other members of the Bali Club will learn a valuable lesson from our experience.
