Tabanan, Bali — Bali Botanical Garden in Tabanan District, Bali, will be completely closed during the observance of Nyepi, the Balinese New Year (Saka Year 1948), on Thursday, 19 March 2026.

The closure applies to all activities, including tourist visits, research, and educational programmes.

General Manager of PT Mitra Natura Raya (MNR), Zaenal Arifin, stated that the policy was adopted as a mark of respect for the Catur Brata Penyepian observance observed by the Hindu community in Bali.

“We invite all community members and tourists to respect the observance of the sacred Nyepi day together,” said Zaenal, confirmed on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.

For a full 24 hours, the botanical garden area in Tabanan District will remain completely quiet without visitor activity.

Bali Botanical Garden will reopen on Friday morning, 20 March 2026.

“With reduced human activity in the conservation area, the ecosystem within the area is expected to remain preserved,” he added.

The botanical garden will present a thematic programme titled “Poelang Kampoeng” (Return to Village) running from 21-25 March 2026.

“This means for our botanical garden friends who are not returning to their hometowns this year, please return to the botanical garden with various activities ranging from education, entertainment, and culinary experiences, which can inspire and serve as a remedy for longing,” he said.

He added that the “Poelang Kampoeng” theme will not only be held at Bali Botanical Garden, but simultaneously at three other botanical gardens managed by MNR, namely Bogor Botanical Garden, Cibodas Botanical Garden, and Purwodadi Botanical Garden.
