Bali bomber in cafe
JAKARTA: Bali bomber Ali Imron was spotted at a cafe in Central Jakarta on Wednesday drinking with National Police of bomb squad chief Brig. Gen. Gorries Mere. National Police Chief of Detectives Comr. Gen. Suyitno Landung Sudjono confirmed that Ali, who has been sentenced to life imprisonment for his role in the 2002 Bali bombings, was in Jakarta and may have been taken outside by his officers for interrogation.
"It is usual practice to take a convict outside prison if police need information. Taking them for a drink in a cafe might be a useful technique to get information on other fugitive terrorists. Remember, we have to capture fugitives Azahari and Noordin," said Suyitno, referring to two Malaysian terrorists. -- JP
