The economies of Bali and Nusa Tenggara grew to reach 7.93% (year-on-year/yoy) in the first quarter of 2026, according to Indonesia’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS). This growth is the highest among Indonesia’s islands and exceeds the national annual growth of 5.61% (yoy). The economic growth in Bali and Nusa Tenggara surpassed that of Sulawesi, which typically averages above 6%. “Bali and Nusa Tenggara are supported by mining, processing, and agriculture, with the main source for West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) at 4.07%,” said BPS Chief Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, in the BPS data release on Tuesday (5/5/2026). This economic growth in Bali and Nusa Tenggara surged sharply compared to the same period in the first quarter of 2025, which reached 3.22% (yoy). Meanwhile, Sulawesi’s economy grew by 6.95% (yoy), compared to 6.4% (yoy) in the first quarter of 2025. The drivers of growth on Sulawesi island are contributed by the processing industry, trade, and agriculture. The highest economy on this island is contributed by South Sulawesi at 3% (yoy).
