“Due to the heavy rain in the airport area on Tuesday, we confirm that airport operations are now running normally,” the airport’s Head of Communication and Legal Division, Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi, informed in a statement on Tuesday.

He explained that five flights were affected due to the extreme rain and strong winds in the Bali area.

Cebu Pacific flight 5J 281, en route from Manila to Denpasar, was diverted to Makassar at 12:12 local time on Tuesday. However, the flight was confirmed to have landed in Denpasar at 5:40 a.m.

“Indonesia Air Asia flight QZ 247, from Phuket to Denpasar, was diverted to Jakarta at 1:05 a.m., and successfully landed in Denpasar at 7:02 a.m.,” Asmadi continued.

Meanwhile, Cebu Pacific flight 5J 282, from Denpasar to Manila, was originally scheduled to depart at 1:00 a.m., but due to weather conditions, the flight departed at 4:00 a.m.

Furthermore, Transnusa flight 8B 5254, from Denpasar to Lombok, was scheduled to depart at 12:40 p.m., but was rescheduled to depart at 3:29 p.m.

“Lastly, Wings Air flight, IW 1856, on the Denpasar-Lombok route, was scheduled to depart at 11:10 a.m., and departed at 12:08 p.m., landing at 12:40 p.m.,” he remarked.

Amidst the extreme weather that has hit Bali in recent days, his party ensures ongoing coordination with relevant agencies, including the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and AirNav Indonesia, to monitor weather developments around the airport area.

“We are also ensuring that the terminal’s infrastructure and supporting facilities remain in optimal condition to maintain the highest quality of service for airport users,” he said.

Given the continued rain throughout Bali, Asmadi urged prospective passengers to arrive early and monitor traffic conditions.

“We also advise passengers to coordinate with the airline for the latest flight information,” he added.
