Bali Airport Resumes Operations After 24-Hour Closure for Nyepi

Denpasar (ANTARA) - Management of Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, Bali, announced that it has resumed operations after a 24-hour closure for the sacred Nyepi Day.

“Ngurah Rai International Airport resumed operations on Friday, 20 March 2026, at 06:00 WITA following the observance of Nyepi Day,” said Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi, Head of the Communication and Legal Division at Ngurah Rai Airport, in Denpasar, Bali, on Friday.

He stated that on Friday morning, to commence operations, the first arriving passengers were on the domestic route from Surabaya to Denpasar via Citilink flight QG 692, landing at 06:52 WITA.

Subsequently, passengers arrived on the international route from Hong Kong to Denpasar via Hong Kong Airlines flight HX 707, which landed at 06:58 WITA.

Eka Sandi noted that for departures, the first aircraft to take off from Ngurah Rai Airport was on the domestic route, Citilink flight QG691 carrying passengers from Denpasar to Surabaya, departing at 08:10 WITA.

Next, the first international departure was by Hong Kong Airlines flight HX 706 on the Denpasar-Hong Kong route at 09:00 WITA.

With this, Ngurah Rai Airport management is resuming normal operations, while also conveying that during Nyepi Day, the atmosphere proceeded conducive without any flight activities.

“We can confirm that the situation at Ngurah Rai Airport during Nyepi Day was conducive,” Eka Sandi said.

It is worth noting that amid the ongoing Lebaran Transport Post from 13-30 March 2026, Ngurah Rai Airport was temporarily closed on 19 March 2026 from 06:00 until 20 March 2026 at 06:00 WITA.

The operators recorded that on that day, they did not operate 440 scheduled commercial flights, consisting of 231 domestic route flights and 209 international route flights.

During that period, 19 aircraft performed “remain overnight” or parked at Ngurah Rai Airport.
