Flight operations at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, continued as normal amidst heavy rainfall on Tuesday (24/2/2026). Although some flights, both arrivals and departures, were affected, overall operations remained normal.

“The weather conditions with heavy intensity rain did occur in the airport area today, but overall operations continued normally,” said the Communication and Legal Division Head of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi, in a statement.

Two international flights from Manila and Phuket were temporarily diverted to other cities for safety reasons. Cebu Pacific flight 5J 281 was diverted to Makassar, while Indonesia AirAsia flight QZ 247 was diverted to Jakarta before eventually landing in Denpasar this morning.

“For arrivals, Cebu Pacific from Manila was diverted to Makassar at 00.12 Wita, and Air Asia from Phuket was diverted to Jakarta at 01.05 Wita. But both planes have now landed in Denpasar this morning, at 05.40 and 07.02 Wita respectively,” said Eka Sandi.

The departure sector also experienced similar constraints, with the Cebu Pacific flight to Manila being delayed for three hours from its original schedule. In addition, two flights on the Denpasar-Lombok route also experienced departure delays and rescheduling.

“The Cebu Pacific plane to Manila, which was supposed to depart at one in the morning, only departed at four in the morning. Then there was a TransNusa flight to Lombok which was rescheduled to 15.29 Wita, and Wings Air, which was also to Lombok, was delayed by one hour from its original schedule,” he said.

The airport management is currently maintaining intensive communication with BMKG and AirNav Indonesia to monitor weather patterns. This step is taken to ensure that safety standards and terminal service quality are maintained for passengers.

“We continue to coordinate with BMKG and AirNav to monitor the weather for the safety of airport operations. We also ensure that all facilities in the terminal are in prime condition so that service to passengers remains optimal,” explained Eka Sandi.

People who will be traveling through Ngurah Rai Airport are advised to leave earlier to avoid traffic congestion. Passengers are also asked to actively check the latest flight status with their respective airlines.
