Despite the disruptions, overall airport operations and services remained normal, Asmadi said.
Airport operator PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia was coordinating with airlines to update flight schedules and assist affected passengers already at the airport, while also working with air navigation provider AirNav Indonesia to monitor airspace affected by the volcanic activity.
The airport has prepared additional facilities and services to provide comfort for affected passengers who have gathered in the terminal.
Passengers were advised to confirm their flight status with their respective airlines before traveling to the airport.
